Teaching & Coaching
Mission
My approach to teaching and coaching is simple – bring out the best in clients by fostering a supportive environment in which to grow and creating a clear plan to achieve their goals.

As a teaching artist, I draw on my professional experience in the field to give practical, current advice to students on what it takes to be a successful musician. My goal with K-12 students is first and foremost to make them intelligent, curious, and creative thinkers in music. While some students will take their primary instrument into college and subsequent professional careers, many will not, and it is equally important to me that students who learn music for their own enjoyment or enrichment are equipped with the skills to be effective music makers for the rest of their lives if they so choose. I believe in a holisitc approach that incorporates both dedicated instruction in their primary instrument and aspects of and discussion around ear training, music theory, music technology, musicology, and current music trends.

As a vocal coach, I work with both professional actors and young students to prepare audition material and curate repertoire for their books. My experience as a working music director in professional theater gives me insight into what music teams are looking for in auditions. I focus heavily on creating a safe space for actors to explore their material, allowing them to make choices and take risks that they may not have otherwise. I work with my clients collaborativey to refine their performances, promote healthy singing habits, and assuage performance anxiety.
